Application Software for Integral Information System of Belgrade Bus Station
Belgrade Bus Station („BBS“) is one of the bigest bus stations in the Europe
(with about 1100 departures, of about 250 transportation enterprises reaching more
than 2110 cities in Serbia and Montenegro, in Republics of former Yugoslavia and
in other countries in Europe).
Realized subsystems of the IIS BBS (with about 40 applications) are: Traffic, Bus
services, Goods and material input-output management, Accounting and financial affairs,
Salaries, Human resources management, Plan and analysis, Administration of information
system, Common business objects.
The main real-time applications of the Traffic subsystem are: Ticket selling
(and booking), Departures/arrivals timetables management, Updating buses departures,
Evidence of bus departures/arrivals at platforms, Price lists, Depot of tickets, Control
and analysis.
Modern Integral Information System of the Belgrade Bus Station (“IIS BBS”) is designed
by object-oriented methodology using UML (Unified Modeling Language) and by up-to-date
visual modeling software tools.
Technical solution of application software for “IIS BBS” is implemented in Microsoft
generic three-tiered architecture of distributed software components (with MS COM+
technology for middleware), by using Microsoft development tools. Software is developed
in Microsoft Visual Studio environment, running Microsoft Visual Basic (VB) windows
applications and Web clients at workstations. Data modeling and data base design was
supported by ERWin 4.0. System is running in the network of Microsoft Windows 2000
servers and Microsoft SQL 2000 servers as DBMS, distributed at two main business sites
of the “BBS”.
